Conclusion:
VistaPrint offers average-priced marketing materials in all categories. They offer a wide range of printed products. VistaPrint lets you upload and print an existing design, and they also offer predesigned templates and a design tool to help you create your design for some products. We found it very easy to upload your own design with VistaPrint. They charge $1.99 for each PDF proof of your design, which does not meet our Market Standard of free proofs.
We found their customer support to be average quality. Their email support took two days to respond, which is slow compared to the email support of other providers we reviewed. VistaPrint has a standard shipping time of 14 days, which is much slower than our Market Standard shipping time of one week.
Design and Printing
Vista Print meets our Market Standard by allowing you to upload an existing design easily with just two clicks and have it printed. Vista Print will accept these file types: PDI, AI, PSD, BMP, CDR, CLK, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PPT, PPTX, PUB, DOC, DOCX, PCX, PIC, PICT, PCT, PNG, PS, EMF, and WMF files for uploading your design. Vista Print provides pre-designed templates for brochures, flyers and postcards. You can also use Vista Print’s WYSIWYG design tool, which lets you drag-and-drop text and images to create your design from scratch for brochures, flyers and postcards. Their design templates show cut-and-bleed lines, so you know exactly where your paper will be cut. You can download blank templates for brochures and flyers that you can edit with your own design software and then upload. Blank templates are not available for postcards, which does not meet our Market Standard.
Vista Print offers both offset and digital printing. Offset printing is a process in which a plate makes an inked impression on a rubber-blanketed cylinder, which in turn transfers it to the paper. Offset printing offers higher image quality, is more cost effective when ordering large quantities, and is better for larger prints. Digital printing is a process in which the data and images are printed directly from the computer onto paper. It has shorter turnaround time, is more cost effective when ordering small quantities, and is better for customized printing.
Brochures
Vista Print allows you to order brochures in the range from 25-10,000, which is much better than our Market Standard minimum order size of 100. 25 brochures cost $39.99. As you order larger quantities, your price per brochure gets significantly cheaper. Vista Print offers over 1,100 templates to choose from when designing your brochures. Their brochures are printed on paper with an aqueous coating, which provides a high gloss surface that protects the paper from dirt and scratches.
Flyers
Vista Print allows you to order flyers in the range from 25-10,000, which is better than our Market Standard minimum order size of 100. 25 flyers cost $29.99. As you order larger quantities, your price per flyer gets significantly cheaper. Vista Print offers over 800 templates to choose from when designing your flyers. Their flyers are printed on paper with an aqueous coating, which provides a high gloss surface that protects the paper from dirt and scratches.
Postcards
Vista Print allows you to order postcards in the range from 100-20,000, which meets our Market Standard minimum order size of 100. 100 postcards cost $18.74. As you order larger quantities, your price per postcard gets significantly cheaper. Vista Print offers over 3,000 templates to choose from when designing your postcards and your postcards are printed on paper with a glossy or matte finish.
Shipping
Standard shipping time takes 14 days for brochures, flyers, and postcards, which does not meet our Market Standard of one week. Shipping prices vary with location, but we were quoted $11.24 for 25 brochures, $10.68 for 25 flyers, and $10.35 for 100 postcards. 3-business day or 7-business day expedited shipping options are available for an extra cost.
